The Season Kicks Off

Both our Under 18s and Under 16s kicked off their seasons at the weekend.

In their first National League match, the Under 18s traveled to Malleny Park to face Currie. On a hard pitch, spectators were treated to a great contest, with the lead changing hands time and time again. The Borders Girls pack were generally stronger, with Currie's backs having the edge over the Borders. We had support from Dalkeith girls as well - thank you! Congratulations to all the girls on both teams making their Under 18 debuts.

Final score 40-32 to Currie. Many thanks to them for hosting us. Chloe H was our player of the match, with the Digiserve Player of the Match for Currie being Sophia.

Several of our Under 16s took a short hop over the border to beautiful Corbridge, playing in a joint team with the hosts Tynedale RFC, at their Women's Rugby World Cup festival. This was a fantastic showcase of what rugby is about - two groups of players who didn't know each other, playing great rugby together and making friends. For many girls it was their first taste of Under 16 rugby, and for one, her first competitive match - not that you would have known...

The Tynedale/Borders team played three close-fought matches, winning against Northern Valkyries and Biggar (just!), and losing to Northern. Depending on the opposition jerseys, our girls swapped between the red of the Borders and the blue of Tynedale. Thank you to Tynedale RFC for hosting - we will be back!
