While the weather has been making our washing machines work overtime, our girls have been back on the pitch. Before that though, we were at Murrayfield parading our League Winner trophy round the pitch during the 1872 Cup as Edinburgh played Glasgow in the URC.
January saw a welcome return to rugby for our Under 18s, competing in a combined side versus Currie. Our numbers are rising, but slowly. Any keen players, new or experienced, are welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings. We are also very proud of our former U18 captain Lola-Jo, now playing with Berwick Black Diamonds, who was selected to represent the East of Scotland Under 18s.
Our Under 16s have started the season strongly, with some great play in matches with Dalkeith, our old friends and rivals Dunbar, Boroughmuir/Lasswade and Currie. With new players stepping up as they turn 14, our squad continues to grow, and we are hugely impressed with how well these girls from 8 different high schools are playing so well as a team.
Our mini festival in Berwick was a return to seventies-style muddy rugby!
Our big news for this year is a planned tour to Wales. We are thrilled to have been invited to play New Tredegar RFC in April, before watching Wales vs. Scotland in the Women's Six Nations. At the moment it's in the planning stage, with various fundraising activities taking place. If you want to help us, sponsoring a player is a great way to help us. Details are on our sponsorship page.
