September Match Reports

Both our teams have continued strongly, with our Under 18s playing Boroughmuir at Kelso, and our Under 16s kicking off their league matches against Dunbar in Berwick and Ayrshire in Cumnock.

Boroughmuir/Lasswade have traditionally been strong opponents and this time due to player numbers some of our girls swapped shirts in a well-played development match at Poynder Park, scoring tries in both Borders red and Boroughmuir Blue/Green. Our match against Preston Lodge / Murrayfield Wanderers was postponed, and will be played later in the season.

Our Under 16s have worked hard to come together as a team, with several debutantes at U16 level, and some making their career rugby debuts. We have played two matches in the league so far, both being close-fought contests against excellent opposition. Versus Dunbar the lead changed hands several times, with Borders Girls edging the contest 48-39. After a long trip to Cumnock the grit and determination of the girls was to the front as they won an epic battle against Ayrshire (Kilmarnock/Cumnock/Carrick) 55-45. With girls from 7 High Schools playing together for the first time, it is heartening to see the team developing so well.
